Knossos palace

Knossos palace of is the most popular attraction in Crete, located just a few kilometers from the center of Heraklion and visited every year by thousands of tourists. Stretching proudly over the hill of Kefalas, it has easy access to the sea as well as the interior of the island. The palace was a multi-storey building covering an area of 20,000 sq.m. The various building materials, painted plaster, marble decorations and frescoes that adorn the rooms and corridors are quite impressive. The numerous exquisite art findings from the palace, such as vases, figurines, utensils, etc., tablets with Linear B script, as well as the original frescoes are on display in the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion.
